Disable G-Suite account
1. Suspend the User (Recommended)
This temporarily blocks access to all Google services, including Gmail, while keeping the user’s data intact.
- Sign in to the Google Admin console.
- Go to Menu
→ Directory
→ Users.
- Click the user you want to suspend.
- Click Suspend user.
This turns off Gmail for a specific user, organizational unit, or group, while leaving other services (Drive, Calendar) active.
- Sign in to the Google Admin console.
- Go to Menu
→ Apps
→ Google Workspace
→ Gmail.
- Click Service status.
- To turn it off for specific users, select their Organizational Unit on the left.
- Set the service status to Off, then click Save.
This permanently deletes the user’s Gmail and data.
- Go to Menu
→ Directory
→ Users.
- Select the user and click Delete user.
- Note: You cannot delete your own admin account; you must create another super admin to do it.
If you are canceling the entire G Suite/Workspace subscription:
- Go to Billing
→ Subscriptions.
- Click the subscription, then click Cancel Subscription.
Important Notes:
- Changes can take up to 24 hours to propagate.
- When a user is suspended, they can no longer send or receive emails.
- If you only remove the Gmail license, the user might still have access to other services.
