Disable G-Suite account

1. Suspend the User (Recommended) 

This temporarily blocks access to all Google services, including Gmail, while keeping the user’s data intact. 

  1. Sign in to the Google Admin console.
  2. Go to Menu right arrowDirectory right arrowUsers.
  3. Click the user you want to suspend.
  4. Click Suspend user

2. Disable Gmail Service 

This turns off Gmail for a specific user, organizational unit, or group, while leaving other services (Drive, Calendar) active. 

  1. Sign in to the Google Admin console.
  2. Go to Menu right arrowApps right arrowGoogle Workspace right arrowGmail.
  3. Click Service status.
  4. To turn it off for specific users, select their Organizational Unit on the left.
  5. Set the service status to Off, then click Save

3. Delete the Account 

This permanently deletes the user’s Gmail and data. 

  1. Go to Menu right arrowDirectory right arrowUsers.
  2. Select the user and click Delete user.
  3. Note: You cannot delete your own admin account; you must create another super admin to do it. 

4. Cancel Subscription 

If you are canceling the entire G Suite/Workspace subscription: 

  1. Go to Billing right arrowSubscriptions.
  2. Click the subscription, then click Cancel Subscription

Important Notes: 

  • Changes can take up to 24 hours to propagate.
  • When a user is suspended, they can no longer send or receive emails.
  • If you only remove the Gmail license, the user might still have access to other services.
