Clean Up Your Browser and System

  1. Clear Browser Data: Open your browser’s settings and go to the “Clear browsing data” section. Select All time for the time range, and clear cache and cookies to remove malicious data.
  2. Remove Suspicious Extensions: In your browser’s settings, find the “Extensions” or “Add-ons” section. Disable or remove any unknown or suspicious extensions, particularly those related to McAfee.
  3. Run an Antivirus Scan: Use a reputable antivirus program like Malwarebytes Free to scan your computer for any malware or unwanted programs that may be causing the pop-ups.
  4. Check Startup Programs: Open Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc), go to the Startup apps tab, and disable any unfamiliar programs that launch when your computer starts.
  5. Reset Browser Settings: In your browser’s settings, find the option to reset all settings to their default.
